So I never bothered and got busy in other things in life. Computers for me were anyways just another tool to make life a little more easy. I have never been that into computers or even the internet as most of my contemporaries, being a first-generation computer user!
And as I mentioned earlier I am still traditional in some things.... Believe it or not, for a very long time I used to hand-write my stuff and then type it out - ha ha ha - I know the 12-18 yrs readers are holding their stomachs right now, but hey i think better when I write with a pen, that's how my brain was trained to do always!!
Anyways, coming back to blogging. I forgot all about it till I read some interesting pieces - okay blogs written by friends and got thinking. I suddenly loved the concept and wanted to just write and write and write more.
But then comes a technical glitch - I had to register at a blog-site, create a blog etc etc - nothing technical actually except that I rarely spent anytime on the computer/internet than was absolutely critical (ya I know this is just 1-2 yrs ago but that's how I am). AND then the bigger hitch than the glitch - I am a chronic procrastinator!!!!! Can't get worse!
So off goes 'blogging' in long-term sleep mode.
And tonight destiny converges many things:
- I read such random blogs today that it felt such a sheer waste of a beautiful opportunity called blogging. And when such silly writings can make interesting readings (well I did read quite a few of those myself), then I could really discover my writing skills here.
- Blogging does provide drive and motivation because there would be readers for my writing who will not just read but also give objective evaluation - to my content, to my writing and other things.
- I can't sleep because of the stupid coffee I had after dinner! I am a confirmed non-coffee drinker who can't even close an eye-lid if I drink coffee after 3 pm - that's the deadline - so what was I thinking when I had coffee at 10pm - and I don't even like coffee!!! I'm telling you its destiny's hand at work.
- Then I have to spend the night in the most uncomfortable environs - not my home; no books to read; nothing to tool around with either; the damn aircon conked off - so any attempt to sleep is thrown out of the window!
- So here I am, stuck, wide awake with only my laptop and thankfully my internet connection. So, no big deal! - what are the networking sites; numerous pending 'send email to' lists; g-talk etc for?
- Cut to next plan by the puppeteer called destiny. I am in absolutely no mood or state of mind to interact with anyone - even passively (meant writing an email or replying to them!!!).
- And any bit of entertainment expected from the networking sites is surprisingly missing since no one is updating anyone. How come every morning I have so many status updates or comments; and no-one is sitting tonight wasting time on silly comments. What luck.
- So I do what I do mostly, when I get bored - look at all the photos stored on my comp - fond memories. But that's done with very quickly.
- And hence I am wide awake and with absolutely nothing to do!! That is a bad punishment for me, a very bad one!
- I itched to write but writing just for myself never really excited me else I would have had many diaries by now. I so wanted to write a diary as a child because my dad would have felt proud of me and also because I am good at expressing my mind with the written word. I tried many times but it never lasted beyond 2 days.
- Lo Behold!!! Destiny back to the rescue! I log in to comment on a blog and see that I am already registered on blogger- when did this happen? Aahaa, my dearie sweetie friend in an attempt to get rid of my technical handicap excuse had registered me and even created a blog with me as an author - frankly I had no clue what it meant - she just did it.
- Even so the "Blogging Illiterate" that I was, and quite a stickler for procedures, I patiently scanned through the entire 'HELP' menu of blogger.com {OKAY, its turn for the 12-18 yrs to burst out in hysteria}. For me, the self-taught is the permanent learning!! Laugh away, laugh away...
So here I am - uncharacteristically awake, with only a laptop and sudden enlightenment for blogging!!!
And no excuses this time, all steps moved in tandem with the puppeteer's wishes.
